So Jen, how long have you been at TKF and what is your role?
I’ve been here nearly 3 years now – wow that’s gone quick! I’m one of the financial operations execs.
Tell us about your typical workday as a Financial Operations Executive.
This really depends on which date we are at in the month. Some days I’m working with the client teams to ensure all activity booked is correct and can therefore be invoiced to our clients. Other days I’ll be processing invoices and preparing payments to our media suppliers or resolving queries. I reconcile the bank accounts daily to ensure all payments are accounted for correctly. Finance really isn’t as monotonous as some people might think. Every day is different, and we’re usually involved in helping the rest of the agency with requests most days.
What have you been looking forward to the most about being able to go into the office?
Probably the same as everyone else: actually physically seeing the faces of people that I’m working with, and just having the daily casual small talk! Being able to ask odd questions the second they pop into my head, rather than having to arrange a call, would also be nice.
What’s a work-related accomplishment that you’re really proud of?
This is more a mix of personal and work related… but taking the plunge to do a career change in my late twenties. It was really daunting, and I was filled with lots of uncertainties whilst trying to decide if I was to go for it or not. Whilst freelancing, I began studying my AAT qualifications alongside my day job with the hope that I’d eventually be able to land a role in finance and get the much-needed experience. As I had originally come from an Advertising background, TKF were willing to take a gamble on me!
What’s your favourite way to unwind after a busy day?
A nice meal and a bottle of wine at home or out with friends usually solves most of the day’s stresses!
Other than that, I wish I could say that I’m really good and I get out for a run to clear my head, but that usually only happens when I’ve signed myself up for a half marathon and I haven’t done enough training. In reality, you’ll currently find me planning/researching home renovation ideas, or having a pamper in the bath… wild, I know!
