Fireside: Principles & Practices of Fundraising

Industries across the board have been severely affected by Coronavirus, but none have been tougher to witness than the charity sector.

The British public never fail to support a good cause, and the £800m increase in donations in January – June 2020 compared to the same period in 2019 (CAF) is proof that out of the darkest moments can come the brightest of lights. That said, the situation has unfortunately remained bleak, with analysis by Pro Bono Economics predicting that out of the UK’s 170,000 charities, one in 10 could face bankruptcy, with smaller charities being most at risk. As such, fundraising has been turned on its head, and knowledge and innovation are imperative for charities to get back on their feet in the post-COVID world.

In the first of our 2021 fireside series, Founder Mike Colling caught up with Adrian Sargeant, Co-Founder of the Institute for Sustainable Philanthropy, and RNLI’s Director of Fundraising, Jayne George, to discuss the evolving importance of education in fundraising as a practice; its role in creating growth in today’s world; and what a great fundraiser looks like in 2021, in the context of the launch of the latest edition of ‘Fundraising: Principles & Practices’, co-authored by Jayne and Adrian, which will be published this summer.

To celebrate the book’s relaunch, we’re offering a free copy of ‘Fundraising: Principles & Practices’ to the first 25 viewers. For a chance to get your free copy, please get in touch.
